Picture from 1988, new pic to me anyway

Hi,

Thanks Cathy,  I had never used aol images search before. I did find a couple new pictures of Mr. Ames I had not seen before.

Here is one from a blog,   this man met Mr. Ames at a ski lodge in 1988, was thrilled and asked to have his picture taken with him. It is nice, and I don't believe there would be any copyright problems if I share it here.

Also in my searches I found this kind of neat logo.   I think you will like it too,

Who knew our hero had his own stables?

I will tell you how to see some very nice and new photos of Mr. Ames at the American Freedom Alliance Heroes of Conscience Dinner just a couple of weeks ago.  Remember last year he was the recipient of this award.   I will not post these pictures as they are copyrighted,  but I think it is okay to tell you how to view them yourselves.   There are five photos of him I think, two are with this years honoree, Geert Wilders,  a Dutch politician.    There is a nice photo of Mr. Ames and a pretty woman, the caption says a guest.  I am not sure if it is Mrs. Ames or just a lucky lady who wanted her picture with him.

They are at this website,

wireimages.com

Find that site and do a search for Ed Ames,    one image will come up, and you can click to see the other four.  But do remember this is a website whose photos are copyrighted.

Enjoy and take care,

Susie

Jeepers I should add, that the Mingo stables logo I found, I was just kidding about that being his stables.

I don't want anyone to think I found a stable owned by Mr. Ames. I just meant that our Mingo had his own stable. Just a little joke there.

So don't go calling this stable expecting to talk to Mr. Ames or Mingo, just my little bit of humour.

    Shalom and Hey, Y’all!

Jewish-American Indian Chiefs in the Old South

    (published in Appalachian Quarterly)

But did the murky nether regions of American history contain any “real” Jewish Indians? The American Jewish Historical Society had one candidate that answered the description. Don Solomono Bibo, Jewish Indian Chief, was born in Prussia in 1853. His brothers, who settled in New Mexico in 1866, preceded him west. The Bibo brothers worked for the Spiegelberg family of pioneer merchants. Eventually they set up a trading post to exchange goods with the Navajos, and Solomon joined them from Germany at the age of sixteen, in 1869. He soon became governor of the Acoma pueblo. In 1885, he married Juana Valle, the granddaughter of his predecessor, who converted to Judaism. Their children were sent to Hebrew school in San Francisco. “Solomon Bibo, governor of the Acomas, America’s only known Jewish Indian chief, is buried with his Indian princess in the Jewish cemetery in Colma, California.”

The New Mexico Jewish Historical Society dedicated its 12th annual conference in November 1999 to “the Jewish pioneers of the Territory of New Mexico and the Pueblo Indians with whom they became so close.” The keynote speaker was Mel Marks, author of the groundbreaking 1995 book Jews among the Indians. A picture of Jake Gold, “among the first Jews to settle in Santa Fe, with unidentified Pueblo Indian woman and baby” decorated the program, and conference goers could view the first public display of Solomon Bibo’s revolver.

      mullet hairdo?? What picture?

The WireImage.com won't let me see any pictures unless I register. Do I need to register or is there a different way to view the pictures?

Inahlee, The "mullet hairdo" is referring to the man with the longish hair standing with Mr. Ames that is at the top of Susie's "Picture from 1988.." entry. It was a short-on-the-sides, long-in-the-back style popluar in the 80's. Personally, I never heard the term until a couple of years ago and I lived through the 80's!

I did a search on Ed AMes and one came up, then down towards the bottom it said IMAGES (5) and I clicked on it and saw all five images. But when I clicked one of them to see it bigger, it asked me to sign in or register. Perhaps that is what is happening. That's definately not Jean Ames, in my opinion. But a pretty, lucky lady!

I never knew what a mullet was until the 90s. There was an article on Richard Dean Anderson when he played McGyver. As for the guy in the photo with EA, how tall is he anyway? It can't all be the haircut.
