Very nice article...I kept thinking of Cynthia the whole time! I don't know horses very well, although my neighbor owns 40 acres next to us and has three horses.I love taking apples every now and then to them and a few honeysuckle branches. And they run up to me now because they know I have a few goodies. But that's as familiar as it gets!

Thanks so much! I love the article--amazing how you find these kinds of things. His horses are cute, too. I wonder if he's ever seen a horse with a black body and white mane and tail. I've seen it once as it's so rare but I like them.

I really appreciated the article. I knew he had the ranch in Utah, but did not know about the one in Santa Ynez. He is obviously a very gentle, caring, thoughtful man.
I always wanted a horse too, but alas, unable to have one. My niece in Texas, however, had a beautiful Arabian Gelding by the name of Izod. He was her first 'love'. Unfortunately, he had to finally be put down. I think he was around 23 when he died. Her heart was broken and still, 4 years later she is unable to talk about him.

It was a great article, a great way to begin my day. Horses are prey animals, and as such require a gentle touch to become a willing partner. Need I say more?

Very nice article. It is good to see how much he cares for his horses. They are a very smart animal. I have had horses since I was 11 years old. I was lucky and lived on a farm. At one time we had 30 horses and ponies. My sister and I showed in western classes a lot and in 4-H horse and pony. So this article hits home to me. Horses are my favorite. I had to sell my last one ( a gray Arabian gelding ) when Michael was born. I really really miss riding. Mr. Ames is a very caring person and its nice to read these articles about him.

Eureka!! This artice confirmed what I have long suspected - that Ed was named after the character in "The Count Of Monte Cristo". Wow, I feel like a regular Sherlock Holmes for making that connection by myself. Thanks for independent verification AND a great read!
