The Ballad of Sidewinder and the Cherokee :)

Here are some pictures I recently retook this passed weekend (had a blast!) . Cathy wanted some pictures and thought the rest of you wouldn't mind seeing them again, too. I'm terrible at captions but here I go...

I'll try to minimize as much as possible as I took WAY too many pictures—208 pictures! But, I'm aiming for about 500 when I get to First In War First In Peace and MatchMaker. Hee hee! ...boy, this is going to be hard.

Ahhh, the perfect way to start a movie... the voice of Ed Ames/Mingo singing in the distance, and he just gets closer.

Just love the motion and expression!

lol, Dan looks a little unsure of that knife

What a shame how kindness can get you in trouble sometimes.

Second time in a row, outsmarted... how embarressing

Mingo can barely move with those bonds and a hurt leg. At least they placed him on a rock seat. those pirates sure don't know how to tie knots very well. They got Mingo pretty tight compared to Daniel, and he's the one that's helpless!

You sure move fast fer a man with a hole in his leg...

But yer a (pure) gentleman. oh yeah I love both of their expressions here

Wouldn't you like to have the "chance to ram Quafe's mister down his silly throat"?

Another clumsy moment...

...his poor pride wants to be rid of the crutch. "no harm done, Mingo"

I always crack up when I see Mingo rushing passed Daniel. Slow on two legs, fast on all fours at least!

Just standing here lookin' pretty.

"Daniel will be Daniel"

Mingo's naturally attracted to his other half when Snag forgets his manners

Playin' it rough, are we?

No pointing, now

...Ok, Daniel.

*tisk tisk*

Oooh, where's my zoom-in button?!?! .....*melt*

Ooohhhhh

Back for a proper whippin' eh?

Feelin' a bit "over-powered"?

Does Snag always sleep that way?

You know, Mingo's the one that got hurt by Quafe—he probably wanted to pay him back. Oh well, maybe Dan's doing Mingo's pleasure for him.

He's ok with it, though.

"Pleasant dreams!"

Something's buggin up over here. It shows my old post instead of my new one at the beginning. I used a duplicate. Sorry for any confusion.

Yeah, I couldn't read all of the old post either, which was kinda weird. But somehow I'd missed it anyway and had never gotten a look at the e-bay pics that everyone was discussing. VERY COOL.
I would give my right arm for more like that one of him with the ruffled shirt performing. I really have no clue what he was like performing in his solo career except for They Call the Wind Maria on Youtube and The Johnny Cash Show. Not to offend anyone, but Windmills of Your Mind Song was never a favorite of mine (kind of like a long LSD trip - I never had one but I imagine that's what it's like) and it didn't call for much animation or passion on his part as it wasn't the nature of the song. Love of the Common People is GREAT, but I would love to see more of him singing some of his more exciting songs!!
Oh I Hope one of the MW got these pics and will post them!

Me too. I like Windmills of Your Mind in that it's got a strang poetic side to it of which I can't figure out yet. He did what he could with what little emotion it held for him. But yes, I'd love to see more like They Call the Wind Mariah. I just adore the one with him in the ruffle shirt. That was the kind of thing I wanted to draw but I see a photo did him more justice. Ah well, gotta think of something else.

You can't figure out the strange poetic side until you eat enough mushrooms! Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and all that! LOL

Maybe if we find a couple of more ruffle shirt photo's you can draw one like he would have looked doing a stage performance in Vegas or something!

Windmills Of Your Mind has an hypnotic quality to it. It's one of my favorite movie soundtrack songs, but I can't imagine performing it in public and it kind of loses something when there aren't any visuals with it. EA has the best interpretation of it I've ever heard, but still...

Someday I'd love to make a video of it (yeah, sure). This coming from a woman who's still getting the hang of her digital camera. And someday I'll learn how how to do screen captures, too.

These, by the way, are great. I love Mingo's expressions in this episode.

Uh oh, I knew someone out there must like that song. Wikipedia says "The song illustrates a person's mental state after a romantic break-up, relating the way emotionally charged thoughts and memories can run in tortured circles." So, it maintains it's not drug based like so many lyrics from that time period, (although I'm not quite sure if I buy that.) I guess you either love it or you hate it. Kind of like MacArthur Park. Perhaps your version with pics would be something I could appreciate Hunter.
What's a digital camera? hee hee

I LOVE these pics and captions!! This was one of my FAVORITE SHOWS! Of course, the guest actors were SUPERB. Forrest Tucker was awesome. And Victor Buono - whom I remember best and most disgustingly from "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane"! (1962 film with Bette Davis that is one of the most disturbing movies ever made in my opinion!)
The pic with Mingo pulling out his knife and then looking curious as Snag has both barrels pulled are my favorites! This episode, with it's characters, humor, music and simple but entertaining plot is to me the QUINTESSENTIAL Daniel Boone episode.

oh, and Daniel's reddish hair kinda freaked me out in this episode. Course many American households (including mine) still had black and white sets when this was playing, so I'm not sure many people noticed the change at the time!

Same here; for some reason his hair was more red than anything else. I think he was in the sun too long.

Inahalee, how could you say you were terrible at captions. I wait a long time for your pictures to come up (on dial up) as much for your captions as for the pictures since I'm lucky enough to have the the first 4 seasons of DB on DVD. You're very good at capturing just the right moment for the pictures and your captions are perfect and always make me smile.
